Interior berlanga
By Charlotte Stace

CaixaForum welcomes a new exhibition on the work of the filmmaker and screenwriter, Luis García-Berlanga (1921-2010).
The exhibition, entitled “Interior Berlanga”, brings a journey of discovery through the life of this Spanish filmmaker, his work and delves into his international influence. Importantly, it offers a vision of the history of Spain through his films, uncovers a number of problems relating to censorship, and analyses his internal thoughts and fears: the fear of death, of the future and of women, became recurring themes in his work and provide a lens through which to read García-Berlanga as a person.
The filmmaker created his own 'Berlangian' universe that combines the unexpected, satire, costumbrismo and caricature. In honour of his avant-garde nature, the museum stages the exhibition in a way that celebrates his vivid imagination.
