An inexhaustible homo ludens, Bulgarian performance artist Ivo Dimchev is a serial provider of cathartic experiences for the contemporary international stage. His postmodern theater combines an explosive mix of dance, music, drawings and photography with an overdose of exhibitionism that is guaranteed to engage audiences personally. A respected teacher at top European theater schools as well as a drag queen icon, Ivo transmits creativity even when he’s talking about his orgasms and oral addictions. “Balance between perfectionism and pleasure” is among his mottos.
He arrives in Barcelona to open the Transaccions dance and theater festival (a joint initiative by Mercat dels Flors and Hiroshima) with two of his most-traveled performances: the interactive P Project, which involves audiences in an absurd plot based on “P” words like piano, pray, pussy, poetry and poppers; and Fest, an exploration of the points of contact between power and desire in professional relationships which embodies Ivo’s “guilty love for theater in its more ‘conventional’ setting.”.
