Mercat de Mercats 2026
By Charlotte Stace

Barcelona’s markets leave their usual neighbourhood homes behind for Mercat de Mercats, the city’s annual celebration of everything fresh and local. Now in its 15th edition, the festival brings together stallholders, producers and restaurateurs for three days devoted to the culture that makes Barcelona’s municipal markets such special places.
Market traders will be selling fresh produce to cook straight away at the communal grills, while local restaurants will be serving up tapas, sweets, cheeses, wine, cava and other delectable dishes. There are also showcookings, workshops, talks and live music to fill the gaps between courses.
This year adds an international twist with the South Korean province of Jeonbuk joining as a special guest. That means you can expect Korean food alongside traditional dance, concerts and cultural activities. It’s an unexpectedly brilliant match for Barcelona’s own market traditions and a great opportunity to learn about a new culture and gastronomy.
