"Energy and drama over genre" is how the Brooklyn-based Kristin Malossi, aka DJ Voices - former resident and booker at Nowadays, co-founder of the Working Women project and collective and host of the show Nothing in Moderation on the Lot Radio - neatly defines her DJing style. Just our sort of thing, in other words, and a free-ranging attitude and breadth of musical knowledge ideally suited to the sort of elongated set she'll be playing at this SoundIt x Laut collab night.
Curiosity, exploration, discovery and intelligence - Malossi is one of the few DJs you're likely to meet who runs her own book group, and she often describes the dance floor as her "classroom" - are further relevant watchwords in describing her approach to music, and the frequently ecstatic results on record, on the airwaves and in the club.
