Vesperi
By Charlotte Stace
MEAM holds a new exhibition, Vesperi: Conversaciones con la noche. Spotlighting members of the artistic movement Qualia, through their artworks, members of this group depict intimate and cherished experiences by using the night as the shared element through which they explore their introspection.
The Qualia movement is founded around the philosophical idea of “qualia” which are referred to as the phenomenal properties of experience. In this sense, the artistic movement seeks to explore unique and personal subjective experiences, such as the redness of a colour, the taste of a fruit or the sound of a melody.
The works on show invite the viewer to discover the creative process the artists take when working to create a piece of art. In this way, the viewer considers the experience of making art and has revealed to them those things that cannot be easily explained. In this way, they embrace the unconscious factor that drives the creativity of each artist.
