4444 by The Sound Society presents: A Love From Outer Space
By Kit Macdonald

The final 4444 by The Sound Society (hopefully just the final one of this year, the info available isn't totally clear on that) is a big one. Since the tragic and untimely death of Andrew Weatherall, A Love From Outer Space has been a one-man operation run by his musical partner Sean Johnson. It's built on community and devotion (yes, it can indeed sometimes feel a bit like a religious sect, in the finest way possible) and adherence to one mantra: never knowingly exceed 122bpm.
As we explained when CC:DISCO took the reins for 4444 by The Sound Society in September, the series involves one artist, a four-hour set, a custom-built 14kW sound system and no more than 400 people on the dancefloor, all of whom are invited to "arrive early, dance with eyes closed, and experience the power of music that unfolds without rush or distraction". This one should be a perfect meeting of concept and artist, and we're very much hoping for more next year.
