BioDiverCiutat 2026
By Charlotte Stace

BioDiverCiutat returns as one of the best excuses to look more closely at the city. It invites us to explore parks, beaches, gardens, woodland areas and even the sea, documenting the species we find and helping map the biodiversity found in everyday metropolitan life. It forms part of the global City Nature Challenge, in which cities around the world compete to record as much urban wildlife as possible over four days.
You’re encouraged to head out into the city, photograph plants and animals, upload your observations to the MINKA platform, and identify species with help from the wider community. There’s also an accompanying programme of activities designed to get more people involved.
Who can take part? Whether you’re a researcher yourself or simply interested in nature, you can attend. Simply register for interest online and get prepared to spend four full days immersed in the city’s natural surroundings.
