Brain film fest 2025
By Charlotte Stace

The Brain Film Fest returns to the CCCB this month. Dedicated to exploring the complexities of the brain, this international festival is organised by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and Minimal Films. It features film screenings, round tables and workshops, with the aim of making neuroscience accessible to the public. This year's theme, "The Fear That Moves Us," examines modern-day anxieties across generations and the tools we use to overcome them.
Included within the festival are a selection of feature films and short films. Highlights include Escape by Rodrigo Cortés, tackling infodemia; Can't Feel Nothing, exploring emotional manipulation online; and Souleymane’s Story, depicting immigrant struggles. Other selections, such as Great Absence and Bucharest, the Lost Memory, focus on memory and identity, while Ana Rosa and Hackers of the Brain look at neuroscience and mental health.
Beyond films, the festival brings us expert-led round tables and workshops. These sessions explore fear as both a survival mechanism and a catalyst for change.
