Bright eyes
By Charlotte Stace

Blending indie rock and folk, Bright Eyes - the project of the Omaha-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Conor Oberst - comes to perform live at Sala Apolo.
Alongside Oberst, the multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis and trumpet and piano player Nate Walcott (as well as a number of collaborators from Omaha’s indie music scene) make up the band. Since the late 1990s, the band has carved out a special space in alternative music. Albums like Fevers and Mirrors (2000) and Lifted… (2002) cemented their cult status, while I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning (2005) became a modern folk classic. The same year’s Digital Ash in a Digital Urn revealed a darker, more electronic side.
After a number of years on pause, their 2020 return, Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was, was a critically acclaimed haunting listen. Their most recent album, Five Dice, All Threes (2024), serves up more raw energy and brings them on a new world tour.
