Ghost-Note
By Charlotte Stace

Ghost-Note lands at MASiMAS Festival with groove in abundance. Led by Snarky Puppy percussionists Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth, the Dallas-born collective pushes funk into new realms. Their music draws on James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone while mixing in afrobeat, hip hop, psychedelia, rock and global rhythms.
Since their formation in 2015, they’ve showcased an unmistakable rhythmic approach. Their albums Fortified (2015) and Swagism (2018) combine grooves with high-level collaborations (Kamasi Washington, Karl Denson, Bobby Sparks, Nigel Hall, among others), demonstrating their ability to fuse styles and textures without losing energy or coherence.
The extended Ghost-Note lineup has included players connected to Prince, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Marcus Miller, Toto and Justin Timberlake. They are serious musicians and here to play for a lively crowd at Jamboree.
