Interactivo de Cuba
By Charlotte Stace

Cuban rhythm takes centre stage as Interactivo de Cuba brings their music to Sala Apolo. Founded by pianist Roberto Carcassés, this collective has become a cornerstone of Havana’s contemporary music scene, blending jazz, timba, funk, hip hop and traditional Cuban sounds into something truly original.
More than just a band, Interactivo is a movement. Its members, a rotating lineup of some of Cuba’s most talented musicians, all contribute equally. The result? A spirit of collaboration that makes every performance a fresh and unpredictable improvisation. Their debut album, Goza Pepillo (2005), won the Grand Prize at Cubadisco 2006, while their follow-up, Cubanos por el Mundo (2010), was met with critical acclaim.
For over two decades, they’ve challenged conventions and pushed Cuban music forward. They’re a breath of fresh air, and if you haven’t heard of them, then you need to get down to Apolo and discover them. They won’t disappoint.
