John & Yoko. One to One
By Kit Macdonald

Co-directed by Kevin Macdonald (Whitney, Touching the Void, Marley) and Sam Rice-Edwards, John & Yoko. One to One provides a fascinating look behind the curtain at the relationship and creative partnership between John Lennon and Yoko Ono, using lots of newly restored and unseen footage. Produced with Yoko's approval and co-operation, it mixes intimate footage and sound recordings of the couple's life together with concert footage from the One to One concert at Madison Square Garden in 1972 – Lennon’s last full-length stage performance.
Non-linear, with a channel-surfing aesthetic that flicks between Richard Nixon, Greenwich Village, Vietnam and a flurry of other aspects of life from the 18-month period in 1971 and 1972 that it covers, One to One is essential and highly enjoyable viewing for anyone looking to understand the couple's life in the immediate aftermath of the Beatles' final album, 1970's Let It Be.
