Open doors at the Palau de la Generalitat
By Charlotte Stace
In honour of The National Day of Catalunya - known as La Diada - the Palau de la Generalitat opens its doors to all who would like to visit.
If you didn’t already know, this space houses the seat of the Government of the Generalitat of Catalunya. As part of the open doors visit, you’ll be able to see the Saló de Sant Jordi (which has reopened after a renovation), as well as the institutional spaces on the palace’s lower floors, including the Sala Clavé, the press room, Sala de Torres-Garcia, Sala dels Reis, Sala del Government, Sant Jordi Chapel, the president's office and the deputies' hall.
If you’re interested in Barcelona’s Gothic history, you’ll also be able to pass through the Patio dels Tarongers to see the Gothic gallery, staircase and courtyard, where the awe-inspiring sculpture of El Desconsol by Josep Llimona sits.
It’s your one chance of the year to soak up some true Catalan history - so don’t miss it.
