Yuri Buenaventura
By Charlotte Stace

Colombian-born Yuri Buenaventura brings his New York–style salsa to Barcelona as part of the Mas i Mas Festival. He’ll be backed by an incredible ensemble of musicians featuring congas, trombones, piano, bass and timbales.
Above all, he’s known for his deep connection to the roots of Latin music and first gained fame in France with his 1996 reinterpretation of “Ne me quitte pas”. This ignited a wave of renewed interest in salsa and helped put Yuri’s name on the map.
With his music, he promises to honour salsa’s rich history: colonial displacement, African heritage, and the Puerto Rican, Cuban and Dominican diaspora that shaped the gritty salsa of New York. So if you’re up for a night of exciting salsa, dancing and rhythm, then this one’s not to be missed.
Tickets cost 40 euros. Doors open at 7pm.
