Since 2015, Carrer Blai in Poble Sec – loved and loathed for its many bars serving low-cost pintxos – has been blessed with a this foodie hotspot to still your hunger: Malamén Bendita Bodega.
So set your love-hate relationship with Basque-style tapas aside for a night and step into this new bar with its glamorous, ‘70s flair. The place is owned by couple Humberto and Daniel and the kitchen, serving apéritifs, tapas and supper, is run by Swedish chef David Elfstrand. Don’t miss their ensaladilla rusa (Russian salad) with dill, seasonal croquettes, huevos estrellados (scrambled eggs), and crema quemada cubana (crème brûlée with old rum and raisins) for dessert.
You will also find several vegan options on the menu. Wash all this delightful food down with a glass of beer from craft breweries Naparbier or Terra. I promise you, your idea of “Blai tonight” will never be the same.
